It’s been a month since we got back from our honeymoon in Mexico and I though it might be fun to give you a taste of what we got up to- taste being the operative word as we pretty much ate our way around the country. Mexico was a pretty natural choice for our honeymoon. Prior to our wedding, we had pretty much been in an on-going love affair with Mexican street food ; so much so that we convinced Alan, our awesome Scottish chef, to make it for us for the wedding day itself. We choose to spend three-weeks backpacking all over the country. Not your typical honeymoon perhaps but one that proves that being with someone you love can make even the most horrid of hostels seem amusing.

We spent three nights in Mexico city before venturing 6 hours south to Oaxaca. We roamed the markets, ate some incredible salsas and learnt to cook authentic moles and cheered in Mexico’s independence before heading to a tiny remote Island in the Gulf. In the Yucatan we discovered the warmest oceans, the most beautiful beach ruins and the perfect fish tacos. We could have stayed for ever. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made such an amazing trip possible (in particular Eri, for all her excellent advice) and thank you to Will, the loveliest travel partner. Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more, impossibly I find that I do.
