The 1897 Singer

This Christmas, we had a present ban. Limited finances and the desire to keep things simple meant that we had promised not to buy each other gifts. But my husband, being my amazing husband, gave me the biggest surprise on Christmas morning, whipping out this absolutely beautiful turn-of-the-century Singer sewing machine. Not only have I been greatly missing my machine that I left back in the UK but it has always been a dream to own an old Singer and to sew by foot treddle rather than electricty. This beautiful machine will hopefully one day sit on wooden floorboards, in front of a window but for now it lives in our little basement apartment where it is very much loved. Now I just need to learn how to work it!
