Teething problems

My new part arrived for the Singer this morning after much internet trawling and tracking down. Spare parts for 100 year old sewing machines are not the easiest things to find. Bit by bit I am working to restore the machine to full working order as it is having a few teething problems. This tiny little spring helps to keep the thread at the correct tension. I am hoping that this, with some strategic oiling will do the trick. You have to be incredibly patient with old machines. Mine came from a the garage of a house in Ontario and had not been used for about 50 years so no wonder its being a little resistant!
