“A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2014.”

On the way home; saying goodbye to his first adventure overseas.

I know it looks like I could have taken this picture on any train, any old day. I also know I could have picked any number of exciting photographs of Forrest exploring the more famous sites of Berlin. But going through my images this week, this one really jumped out at me. This week was his very first trip abroad. He got his first stamp in his passport and as we rode this train back to the airport, I looked at him and for a moment he seemed so impossibly grown up for his ten short months. This photograph to me (and perhaps only me) captures a shift in wind, a tiny step forward, a quiet hello to the future.
